Space Drawing & Painting
Developing the <Iron Age> series since 2000, not just remain in the rule of the two dimensional expression in the painting: but to make widen the possibilities of expression, I have developed 3 dimensional space, Time, line and Void. The first reason is that I am creating certain unified art works in one or unified text with using hybrid style to use the combined methods of painting, sculpture, metal craft, play and animation.
Beginning with the name <Iron Age>, I am thinking to give special name of Ism. First of all, to call it as the name of <Hybrdism> or <Combinationism> from the style of hybrid and combine or mixed. Thus, the Hybrdism can be called 21stcentury’s ongoing stream globalism based style: intermingle various expressions or reinvestigate & retranslate them. The idea is to create special aesthetical arts to share the East & West conceptions.
Thus, I would declare the followings:
Firstly, in the creation of big-size art works, it is possible to give special eye-hooking, the challenging moral standard is allowed.
Secondly, in the creation of small and middle sized art works, to give-up the anti-moral conception, more soft and lovely ideas are adapted, another words to use the sub-subject, Love, Hope and Gladness.
Thirdly, the mimetic expression of Middle and Renaissance Age’s and the ideologies of avant-garde expression of Modern Age’s are united in a text. For example, the Nike’s delicate and magical woman expression can be confront in the torn and hole of stainless steel images. In this time, the polyurethane’s cold color on the round stainless steel pipe’s round ring images are united.
Fourthly, the story and message of the usual daily life and Old master’s lecture such as Aesop’s pebble can be adapted in the triptych space to be the eye catching material. In the triptych’s time passing spaces, I am able to represent many time related stories, such as romance of “FROM YOUNG AGE TO BE OLD” as the dramatic operas in a small scale art. Thus, it can be re-elevated as the optical stories with using short Conte Humor.
For this reason, my style comes out from the united text with using optical image with Time and Lesson. Surely, the skill is able to create the historical literature’s text arts from the Greek’s myth, Shakespeare literature, Aesop Pebble, and Bible stories and others.

Ordinary people’s daily life
Why every people see (stand) themselves in front of the mirrors when they are going out? There are many answers. Among them, one of it might be to see (identify) himself/herself in front of the mirror before start to do something. Through the title “in front of the mirror”, I want to represent certain philosophical situations of human living.
Firstly, in megalopolis, we are living complicate maze like roads' traffic conditions and in the midst of numerous buildings. Further, globalism society asks us to solve the complicate relationships in between people and nations. For the stress-full civilization, I want to create soft arts; because it is the best way for the contemporary people to reduce their optical stress. I think, it is great success if it is possible to get aesthetical humor from ordinary people’s eye with having the ingredients of healing, relaxing, and loving heart.
Secondly, the art pieces are related in with our usual livings put on and off their wears before something to do or finish; such as working, dancing, loving, sporting and others. Even though the images in each pieces are very simple, it could be meaningful when they are put together with other works: through series works, it could accomplish dress-up or dress-down to do something.
Thirdly, my aim is that the drawings might approach to the words "life is beautiful". Let’s make the art to catch the time: preparing certain businesses or leisure. Different from other animals, human-beings wear clothes. What is the meaning of dressing? The answer might be many. But to make suitable solution, it needs lot of thinking. One of the answer to wear (take off) clothes is The time to get certain victory in the dating, stage performance, business and sports.
Additionally, the art pieces have many possibilities for the imagination of the spectators. As the condition of given lightening, the series can show dramatic shadows from the lines of wires'. Furthermore, if the lights are many, the shadows could be plural. With having various shadows, the art works could be changed into unexpected arts. In between line and shadows, unexpected void spaces arise. Likewise to breathe in the air, from the interval of each images, we can feel the loving heart, sounds, movements, thinking, and others. Through the whole combination of the characters, finally we could judge what the art works are because the images are linked with those of other works in the series. Surely because, it is really related in spectator’s point of view....

바람 부는 날Windy day 강한 비바람에도 견디는 모습을 보여줌으로써, 인생의 풍파를 이기는 모습을 담아낸다. 이렇게 함으로써 인생의 역경을 견디는 참다운 희열을 보여주고자 한다. 두 가지 소스: 비바람을 견딘 나무 + 이것을 이기고 댄싱 하는 커플, 혹은 꿋꿋하게 자신의 일에 몰두하는 경우. 특이하게도 바람이 부는 반대방향을 서로 상보적으로 도입함으로써 새로운 시각을 펼쳐보일 수 있게 한다. 2017.2.8 기호학적인 대구를 이룰 수 있는 구도를 설정하고, 색상의 대비와 액센트를 이입함으로써, 환상적이며 신비스러운 느낌을 조성할 수 있다. 2017. 3. 16 검정색과 노랑색의 극렬한 대비, 남녀의 색상 차이, 공간과 선의 조화들을 통해서 특이한 구도를 만들게 된다.  |

간결하되 의미 있게
최근에 나는 서민들의 일상에서 포착한 장면 즉, 세면, 수면, 휴식, 기도, 대화, 독서, 외출…… 등의 한 순간을 표현하는 것에 관심을 두고 있다. 하지만 평범할 수 있는 이러한 내용들을 다소 엉뚱하고 의미 있게 각색하여 드라마틱하게 연출하는데 주력한다. <안식> <기도> 등을 제목으로 하는 작품들은 신앙인들의 영적인 삶을; <사뿐사뿐> <바람부는 날> <자유>로 명명한 작품들은 고된 풍파를 견디는 삶을; <아름다운 담소>의 경우는 사람들 간의 애정을 표현하고 있다. 특히, <인생이란...> 등으로 명명한 작품들은 심각한 현실을 유머러스하게 완화시키는 유형이다.
대체적으로 나는 이러한 작품들이 2~3차원적인 표현의 한계를 넘어서기를 희망한다. 그래서 나는 회화 속에 조각을 담기도 하고, 추상적인 배경 위에 구상적인 조각을 부착하기도 한다. 나아가 나는 주로 종이에 그린 원작 드로잉을 매우 간결하게 축약한 인체의 모습으로 다시 제작하기 위해, 섬세한 금속판재와 여러 가지 굵기의 철사를 사용한다. 휘거나 용접하여 만들어진 인체는 내구성을 더하기 위해 금속용 도료로 착색 하고, 최종단계에서 상상력을 불러일으키는 공간에 배치한다. 공간에 따라 다소 다르지만, 조명의 상황에 따라서 예기치 못한 그림자나 역광의 효과가 여백의 공간에 나타나기도 한다.
그렇게 하는 과정에서 가급적이면 군더더기를 제거하여 엑기스를 만들어내는 방향으로 나아가 주제가 호소력을 갖게 하는데 초점을 맞춘다. 그 주제란, 한 사람 혹은 커플을 그리는 유형을 통해서 전달하고자 하는 메시지이다. 결과적으로 나의 예술은 서민들의 애환을 보다 행복하고 아름답게 하는 휴머니즘적 미학에 도달하고자 함이다.
