DNA
From Small Cosmos to The Universe
In 1995, I heard special voice from big plane tree “I am
alive, too!”
It was the special lesson from Nature what a small gene (which has a
DNA) is scheduled to be a big tree. Despite it is a plane truth, then I did not
aware what a beautiful important rule that can control every artwork practice.
After that, in my heart, it is the most important fire-seed for my entire art theory. Delicately, it can arise once again from the previous series “Botanic map 1995”. Botanic map series art works are made from the study of Micro cosmos what is the core DNA of the art works. It is to investigate the micro-cosmos which is unfolding in the cells of plants and animals to create the abstract paintings. Further, it becomes new series of <Free & Soft> now. Finally, it becomes to investigate small cosmos with The Universe.

자유와 부드러움의 근원: 소우주에서 대우주로
1995년 늦은 귀하를 하던 중, 비바람이 스산하게 치던 어느 날, 문득 길 옆을 지나가는데, 우수수 하며 소리를 내던 플라타너스 한 그루가, “나도
살아있다!”라고 외치는 바람에 깜짝 놀랐다. 그것은 마음 속의 음성인지 환청인지 정확하게 알 수는 없었다. 이
말의 참 의미는 무엇인가?
그때의 자연의 가르침, 작은
유전자로부터 출발해서 거대한 나무가 된다는 사실을 깨우쳐 주었다는 사실을 추후 깨달았다. 그것은
평범한 진리이지만,
작업에 적용되는 중대한 원리라는 사실을 당시에는 깨우치지 못했기 때문이다.
2021년 현재, 이러한 조형 이념이 하나의 불씨로 작용하고 있다는 생각이 깃들기 시작하였다. 나에게
있어서 그것은 1994년에서 1996년 까지 지속하였던 <Botanic
map>시리즈의 cor중심 이념은 소우주를 연구하는 것이었다. 그것은
식물이나 동물의 세포와 같은 미시적 우주를 탐구하여, 그 구조와 색상을 탐구하여 추상 회화를 제작하는
것이다.
이러한 추상적인 표현을 다시 재 해석하여 오늘의 <Free & Soft> 시리즈로 재 탄생하게 되는데, 소우주에 더하여 대우주를 동시에 탐구하는 것이다.

Free to concrete establish the expression style.
In small, to stick the pattern style.
<자유>란 무엇인가?
그것은 네 가지로 크게 구분할 수 있다.
첫째, 과거로부터 현재에 이르기까지 양식의 선택의 자유,
둘째 욕망/야망으로부터의 자유,
셋째 표현의 스타일의 정립으로부터 자유,
넷째 다양한
패턴의 선택적 자유를 의미한다.

The importance of <improvisation>
to treat coloring freely, to make up the worth of <Free>.
To challenge the deep aesthetical arts, during various trials and
efforts, to study and analysis the best pattern, colors and designs.
Through the several classifications of my previous art works those are
botany, micro-cosmos, inner mind thinking, gestures of human actions, and the
traces of gestures.
<즉흥>의 중요성
색채의 처리를 즉흥적으로 자유스럽게 행함으로써 <Free>의 가치관을 극대화한다. 심화된 미학에 도전하기 위해서, 여러 가지의 가능성을 타진하고 노력하는 가운데 최선을 다해 적절한 패턴, 색상, 디자인, 등을 연구하고 분석한다. 몇 가지의 분류를 통해서, 작품들의 주제를 연구한 결과, 식물학 (botany) 과 소 우주의 개념을 이 시리즈의 창작 이념이다. 아울러, 사람 속의 생각, 행위 속에 등장하는 몸짓, 제스처의 흔적 등이 또 다른 창작의 원리이다.

What is <Soft>?
In the texture, it’s warm, un-stimulating,
purified, be organized samples of the softness are:
round shape, curve line.
In the colors, purified unaggressive yellow, ochre, and white.
In the red, orange yellow and white.
Red and white.
Smooth(mild) brown, orange, and white pattern.
Harmony of small and big, to be unified as one.
Easy permeate.
Through the expression, I think.... coexistence, cooperation, love each
other, share happiness
Optically easy acceptable basic of art. That is lead in the mind of pleasure. To see something when where what, we feel “optical pleasure”? (4th Sep 2021)
Those are from adaptable shape and texture, well-harmonized
colors, high-finished artistic language, clear composition, un-boaring pattern
space and texture harmony, interesting unfolding, delicate finish, dramatic
organization, curious feeling arising structure ... and others.
In the midst of them, to select two ingredients
and up-rise is the main motivation of the series.
<Soft>란 무엇인가?
재질 감 중에서 따뜻하고, 비 자극적이며, 부드럽게 되어 정리된
유형으로,
부드러움의 표본이 되는 것은 둥근 형태, 커브
라인 등이다. 색상 중에서도 정화되고 공격적이지 않은 노랑, 백색, 황토색; 적색
중에서도 주황색,
황색과 백색, 적색과 흰색 연한
갈색과 주황:
그리고 전체적인
흰색의 패턴을 연구하고자 한다.

What is the meaning of the edge?
1. it means finish.
2. substitute of a frame.
3. to role upgrade
4. to be new plaza of expression
5. to complete the center images and get
up-rising effect
6. Only express the edge, it can magnify the
possibility of paintings
7. In the midst to upgrade edge, past artists choose the frames. Therefore, there are made various qualified frames.
<Soft Edge 가장자리의 품격...>
회화에서 가장자리는 무엇인가?
1. 마무리를
의미한다.
2. 액자대용이
된다.
3. 격을
높이는 역할을 한다.
4. 새로운
표현의 장이 된다.
5. 중앙의
이미지를 정확하게 완성하여 상승효과를 이룬다.
6. 가장자리를
표현하는 것 만으로도 회화의 가능성을 확장할 수 있다.
7. 과거의
화가들이 가장자리를 극대화하는 과정에서 화려한 액자를 선택하였고, 그로 인해 다양한 품질의 액자가
등장하였다고 본다.
