Abstract painting 80x80cm
This Series works are about revealing my deep-seated sensibility toward color. A single word is insufficient, so I'll use three keywords to describe it. I limit the colors I use to three to five for each painting. Within this limited palette, I challenge myself to explore all things in life.
For now, I'm using an 80x80cm canvas to express color, which is a suitable size.
To express color, emotional mood, and other aspects, I imbue the colors with their own unique characteristics, establish appropriate shades, and add touch, flow, and a touch of texture.
As the work takes shape, I pay close attention to the voice whispering within me, proceeding meticulously. I constantly monitor my progress and set deadlines.
<Work Note, Fall 2025>
이 시리즈 작업은 나의 내면 깊숙이 가지고 있는 색에 대한 감성을 드러내는 일이다. 하나의 어휘로는 불충분하여 3가지 키워드를 사용하여 설명한다. 사용하는 색상은 각각의 페인팅에서 3~5가지로 제한한다. 제한된 색 안에서 삼라만상에 도전한다.
우선 지금은 80x80cm 캔버스를 사용하여 색상을 표현하는데, 크기가 적당하다.
색상과 감정 분위기 등을 표현하기 위해서 색 자체가 가지고 있는 성격을 부여하고 여기에 어울릴 수 있는 음영을 설정하고, 터치와 흐름 그리고 약간의 질감을 더한다.
작품이 형상되는 과정에서 내 안에서 속삭이는 목소리에 주목하여 정교하게 진행하며, 지속적으로 진행 과정을 살펴보면서 마감 시간을 정한다.

In the work <25P-28>, the intense pink and magenta symbolize erotic vitality, desire, and sensual passion. The repeated vertical lines, in the Deleuzian sense, are repetitions that generate difference, revealing the generative movement of existence. Philosophical meaning: Plato's eros (love) can be pictorially translated as the upward movement from sensation to idea.
작품 <25P-28>에서 강렬한 분홍과 마젠타는 에로스적 생명력, 욕망, 감각적 열정을 상징한다. 반복되는 수직의 선들은 들뢰즈적 의미에서 차이를 낳는 반복으로, 존재의 생성적 운동을 드러낸다. 철학적 의미: 플라톤의 eros(사랑) ― 감각에서 이데아로 향하는 상승 운동을 회화적으로 번역할 수 있다.

Passion Stimulation madness <25P-4> 열정 흥분 광기 80x80cm Acrylic on canvas 2025 The vertical flow of this work evokes Heraclitus's thought, "Everything flows (πάντα ῥεῖ)." The permeation of color from top to bottom reveals the unstable world, the movement of beings constantly being created and destroyed. Even within a still moment, the work reveals "change" as a fundamental principle. The vertical stripes of color that repeat throughout the canvas are not a simple repetition of sameness, but a repetition of difference, revealing different intensities and textures each time. In Deleuzian terms, this work is not a work of representation, but a field of becoming. Color is not simply something that 'represents something'; it acts as a force and an event in itself, producing new sensations within the viewer. 이 작품의 수직적 흐름은 "모든 것은 흐른다(πάντα ῥεῖ)"라는 헤라클레이토스의 사유를 떠올리게 한다. 색채가 위에서 아래로 스며드는 모습은 고정되지 않은 세계, 끊임없이 생성·소멸하는 존재의 운동을 드러냅니다. 작품은 정지된 순간 속에서도 "변화"를 근원적 원리로 드러내고 있다. 화면 곳곳에서 반복되는 색채의 수직적 줄무늬는 단순한 동일성의 반복이 아니라, 매번 다른 강도·질감을 드러내는 차이의 반복이다. 들뢰즈적으로 말하자면, 이 작품은 재현(representation)이 아니라 생성(becoming)의 장이다. 색은 단순히 '무엇을 나타내는 것'이 아니라, 그 자체로 힘과 사건으로 작용하며 관람자 안에서 새로운 감각을 생산한다. |

Bright bands running across the surface—intertwined areas of yellow, green, white, and red—look like fault lines of energy. Colors swirl and flow above and below, demonstrating a sense of movement. This transcends the static plane, demonstrating that the painting operates as a field of force. → This connects to Deleuze's concept of "flux." An object is not a fixed entity, but a process of constant creation through the interweaving of various forces.
화면을 가로지르는 밝은 띠 ― 노랑, 초록, 흰색, 붉은색이 얽힌 부분 ― 은 에너지의 단층선처럼 보이게 하였다. 그 위아래로 색채가 휘어지며 흘러내리는 듯한 운동성을 보여주는데, 이는 정적인 평면을 넘어, 회화가 힘의 장(場) 으로 작동한다.
→ 들뢰즈의 ‘흐름(Flux)’ 개념과 연결된다. 개체는 고정된 실체가 아니라, 다양한 힘이 얽혀 끊임없이 생성되는 과정이다.

The primary colors of the canvas are brown and ochre, emphasizing the thick, scratched marks left behind, as if revealing the skin of an eroded cliff or weathered earth. The physical thickness of the paint goes beyond the simple effect of color; it metaphorically symbolizes the layers of time and the sedimentation of nature. Small fragments of yellow and green intermittently placed above signify signs of life blooming on the dry land. This is a point where the oppositions of dryness and recovery, stasis and creation coexist. Within the canvas, these colors appear sporadically like sparkles of light, leaving traces of energy bursting forth amidst silence and desolation. Throughout the work, I explored the tension between chance and control. The process of applying and scraping paint, the moments when the matière reveals unexpected expressions, resemble the processes of creation and destruction in nature. This is not simply an act of filling a surface, but an experiment in translating the cycle of collapse and regeneration into a pictorial gesture. Ultimately, this work is an attempt to depict the "face of the earth." Rather than a landscape reflected through the human gaze, it is a painting that reveals the expression of the land, which itself holds time and memory. The small lights and colors created within it become metaphorical records of possibilities, both fading and yet emerging.
이 작업은 흙과 대지의 질감을 회화적 언어로 끌어내는 데 집중하였다. 화면의 주조색은 갈색과 황토색 계열로 설정하여, 마치 침식된 절벽이나 풍화된 땅의 피부를 드러내듯이 두텁게 쌓이고 긁히며 남겨진 흔적을 강조하였다. 물감의 물리적 두께는 단순한 색채의 효과를 넘어, 시간의 켜와 자연의 퇴적을 은유한다. 그 위에 간헐적으로 배치된 노란색과 녹색의 작은 파편들은 건조한 대지 위에서 피어나는 생명의 징후를 의미한다. 이는 메마름과 회복, 정지와 생성의 대립이 공존하는 지점이다. 화면 속에서 이 색채들은 빛의 반짝임처럼 산발적으로 나타나며, 침묵과 황량 속에서 터져 나오는 에너지의 흔적을 남긴다. 작업 과정에서 나는 우연성과 제어 사이의 긴장을 탐구했다. 물감이 칠해지고 긁혀나가는 과정, 마티에르가 예상치 못한 표정을 드러내는 순간은 자연의 생성과 파괴 과정을 닮아 있다. 이는 단순히 표면을 채우는 행위가 아니라, 붕괴와 재생의 순환을 회화적 제스처로 옮겨놓는 실험이다. 결국 이 작업은 ‘대지의 얼굴’을 그리고자 한 시도이다. 인간의 시선에 비춰진 풍경이라기보다, 스스로 시간과 기억을 품고 있는 땅의 표정을 드러내는 장치로서의 회화. 그 속에서 생겨난 작은 빛과 색은, 사라짐과 동시에 다가올 가능성에 대한 은유적 기록이 된다. |

A blue rupture germinates from a single point, holding stillness and vibration together. The dense central layers pulse like a heart of compressed energy. Subtle traces disperse outward, filling the canvas like breath. Chromatic tremors oscillate between condensation and dissolution, shaping depth. The work reconfigures the stillness of light and time into a momentary eruption.
한 점에서 발아한 푸른 파열이 고요와 진동을 함께 품는다. 중심의 농밀한 색층은 응축된 에너지의 심장처럼 맥동한다. 번져 나가는 미세한 흔적들은 숨결처럼 화면을 채운다. 색의 떨림은 응결과 해체의 경계를 왕복하며 깊이를 만든다. 이 작품은 빛과 시간의 정적을 한순간의 폭발로 재구성한다.

While creating this work, I was filled with negative energy, thinking it was too monotonous, childish, and unlikely to become a work of art. However, an unexpected twist emerged from that monotonous, ignorant, and clumsy composition. This was because a new thought emerged: that the work could resemble the creation of the world. This thought arose as I zoomed in on the center.
나는 이 작품을 제작하면서 너무 단조롭고 유치하며 작품이 될 것 같지 않다는 생각으로 내 머리 속을 가득 부정적인 에너지로 채우고 있었다. 하지만, 그 단조롭고 무식하며 어설픈 구도에서 뜻밖의 반전이 이루어지고 있었다. 그것은 바로 천지창조처럼 보일 수 있는 작품이 될 수도 있다는 생각이 새롭게 형성 되었기 때문이다. 중앙을 확대해보면서 이러한 생각을 갖게 되었다.

Heidegger described a work of art as a "manifestation of truth." This painting does not explicitly represent anything, but rather reveals "worldliness" in its unrepresentability. Color and texture go beyond mere materiality, metaphorically revealing "invisible phenomena" like the light of a forest, waves, and air. In other words, the painting functions as an event in which a hidden world reveals itself. |

"The painting surface <25P-30> is not a path from one color to another, but a space where change itself becomes reality. Existence is not a fixed form, but a constantly changing event. I am green, yellow, and orange at the same time. I exist in a state of 'already' and 'not yet.'"

This painting is not an array of colors. It is an "open field" where existence reveals itself. Green represents the world yet to be revealed, and orange represents the world already revealed. However, what is important is not a single color, but the "between-being (Zwischenwesen)" that unfolds between them. We do not see fixed colors, but the moment when colors reveal and disappear—the "unconcealment (ἀλήθεια)" of existence. This painting is not a completed form, but an event in which existence reveals itself.
